Blue Tigers swept by Gorillas in MIAA softball

The Lincoln Blue Tigers dropped a conference softball doubleheader Saturday to the Pittsburg State Gorillas.

Pittsburg State won the opener 10-1. Lincoln's run came in the bottom of the second inning on a solo home run by Spencer Silva that tied the contest at 1.

The Gorillas regained the lead with a run in the third, then added five in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the sixth.

Silva finished with two of Lincoln's three hits.

Madison Ragar took the loss, allowing seven runs on 10 hits and three walks in four innings. She struck out two. Lauren Stamp worked the final two frames, allowing three runs on six hits and a walk.

In the second game, Pittsburg State scored eight runs in the second in a 9-1 victory against Lincoln.

The game was tied at 1 after one inning. Lincoln scored on an RBI grounder by Avery Myers to score Megan Heimbaugh.

Silva took the loss, working the first 11/3 innings of the five-inning contest. She allowed eight runs (two earned) on five hits and a walk. Macie Kinsey pitched the final 32/3 innings, allowing an unearned run on four hits.

Pittsburg State is now 23-11 overall, 12-2 in the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association.

Lincoln (3-29, 2-16) is back in action Tuesday at home in a non-conference doubleheader against Missouri S&T. The first game is slated for a 2:30 p.m. start.
