BizBeat: Antique shop gets second chance

Sometimes, things are better the second time around: downtown Jefferson City antiques shop Finders Keepers will reopen soon in its previous location as Second Chance Cottage.

Finders Keepers, located at 822 Jefferson St., closed last August. Owner Roy Schenewerk had operated the store with a partner, but after his business partner left, he allowed the lease to run out so he could change the name.

"I never lost my vision for it," Schenewerk said.

He plans to open Second Chance Cottage on April 15. The shop will continue offering mainly antique furniture including bedroom sets, dining sets and living room sets. Schenewerk currently is remodeling and repainting inside, as well as replenishing the stock.

"I'm working on it little by little," he said. "I've got a lot better quality stuff this time - it's going to be the higher end of the used stuff."

Second Chance Cottage will be open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays.
