Tigers lose to Gators in baseball

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Florida Gators closed the game with five unanswered runs and posted a 5-1 win against the Missouri Tigers in baseball action Friday night.

Missouri struck first, scoring a run in the second on an RBI single by Brett Peel.

But Florida took the lead with three runs in the fourth and then rounded out the scoring with a two-run fifth inning.

The Gators outhit the Tigers 11-5 and Missouri committed the game's only error.

Peel went 2-for-4 with one RBI to pace Missouri, while Ryan Howard was 2-for-4.

Reggie McClain took the loss for the Tigers, as he gave up five earned runs in 51/3 innings of work. He allowed nine hits and walked two while striking out five.

Florida (24-7 overall, 6-4 Southeastern Conference) and Missouri (20-11, 6-4) will play against at 2:05 p.m. today.
