Blue Tigers drop both halves of baseball twinbill

WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The Lincoln Blue Tigers dropped both games in doubleheader Thursday to the Central Missouri Mules.

In the first game, Central Missouri's John Oliver hit a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a tie at 3 and give the Mules a 4-3 victory.

Central Missouri scored three times in the bottom of the third before Lincoln tied it with three runs in the fifth.

Nick Lovell doubled home B.J. Nesbitt with Lincoln's first run. Lovell and Kaleb Davis later scored on a double by Dillon Walker to tie it.

Lincoln got the first two Central Missouri batters out in the sixth before Oliver belted a 2-2 pitch over the fence in left. It was the first home run of the freshman's career.

In the seventh, Lovell led off with a single for the Blue Tigers. After a strikeout and fly out, Davis walked to put runners at first and second before a fly out ended it.

Lovell and Nesbitt each had two of Lincoln's six hits in the game.

Trevor Schnieders went the distance on the mound for the Blue Tigers. In six innings, he allowed four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out three.

It was a different story in the second game as the Mules scored five runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth on their way to a 14-2 victory.

Lincoln scored single runs in the third and seventh innings. In the third, Kolton Clark singled to score Lovell. In the sixth, Nesbitt scored on a single by Christian Bunch.

Six Blue Tigers had one hit each in the contest.

Adam Stegeman took the loss for Lincoln. He worked the first 42/3 innings, allowing seven runs (five earned) on eight hits and a walk. He struck out one. Ryan Simpson pitched the final 11/3 innings, giving up seven runs on six hits and two walks.

Lincoln (1-27 overall, 1-17 Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association) and Central Missouri (17-14, 13-9) are scheduled to play again at 3 p.m. today.
