Jefferson City man gets probation for car theft, chase

A Jefferson City man has been placed on five years probation for pleading guilty to stealing a car and then leading police on a high-speed chase last September.

Hayden Pardoe, 22, of 1705 Northport Drive, was charged with first-degree tampering and resisting a lawful stop.

Court documents show a Jefferson City police officer stopped Pardoe for a possible theft from Walmart on Supercenter Drive.

As the officer got out of his vehicle, Pardoe sped away. After a three-mile, high-speed chase, Pardoe finally pulled over.

Further investigation found the vehicle Pardoe was driving had been reported stolen from Columbia and the license plates on the vehicle had been reported stolen from two different vehicles.

When questioned, Pardoe told officers he fled because he knew the vehicle was stolen and he was "scared."
