Helias sets school mark in volleyball

COLUMBIA - The Helias volleyball team set a school record Monday night when the Lady Crusaders won their 26th consecutive match, beating Battle 25-11, 25-10.

The win broke the record of 25 set in 2009 and kept this year's Lady Crusaders perfect at 26-0.

Ashley Dudenhoeffer had 16 assists, 10 service points and two kills to pace Helias. Erica Haslag had eight kills and two blocks, Courtney Hilke had four kills and Molly Sandbothe racked up 12 service points.

In the JV match, Helias improved to 26-0-1 with a 25-4, 25-12 win.

Madeline McDaniel had eight service points and four kills for the Lady Crusaders, Lexy Lamb had 13 assists and Regan Bruns had five kills.

In the freshman match, Helias posted a 25-15, 25-8 victory.

Grace Twehous had 13 service points, six digs and four kills for Helias, which improved to 22-0.

Also for the Lady Crusaders, Alyssa Sullivan had seven assists, Kendal Hagenhoff had 10 service points, Kelsey Brester had seven kills and Elisabeth Mealy had 10 digs.

Helias will host Blair Oaks on Thursday, with the freshmen and varsity playing at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity scheduled to start around 6:30 p.m.
