Helias fund drive raises $310,000

The 2014 Helias Catholic High School Foundation annual fund drive began in April and concluded in August, netting $310,000 in donations.

The goal this year was $350,000.

Barb Sheehan was drive chairwoman, and Jeff Boessen was vice chairman for the 40th drive. Boessen will be the drive chairman for the 2015 campaign.

The Jim Rackers Award for the most revenue given to the drive was the class of 1966 with $15,545 contributed followed by the classes of 1963, 1979, 1988 and 1968.

The Class of the Year award for the greatest class participation went to the class of 1959 followed by 1962, 1961, 1965 and 1966.

The annual drive is a part of the mission to support the Jefferson City parochial school financially. The Foundation uses the endowed funds to make payments to Helias during the school year. The school uses the funds to offset its general operating expenses, the net effect of which is to reduce the cost of a Helias education.
