According to recent Missouri REALTORS sales data, Missouri's real estate market experienced strong increases for property selling prices last month.
August 2014 compared to August 2013
• 6,483 homes sold in August 2014, a decrease of 7 percent compared to 6,971 homes sold in 2013.
• Homes sold at a faster rate last month than in August of 2013, with the number of days a home sat on the market dropping two days, from 121 days in 2013 to 119 days in 2014.
• Both the average and median home prices increased in August. The average price rose 7.3 percent to $178,631, compared to $166,512 a year ago, and the median price of $142,000 was up 5.2 percent from $135,000 in 2013.
August 2014 compared to the previous month of July 2014
• August showed decreased homes sales of 0.6 percent, with 6,483 homes sold, compared to 6,525 homes sold in July.
• Homes spent an average of 119 days on the market, two days more than the 117 days on the market in July.
• The average selling price of $178,631 for August decreased by 0.5 percent from July's price of $179,593.
• The median price of $142,000 for August decreased 3.1 percent from the $146,500 median price in July.
