Helias JV wins volleyball tourney

SPRINGFIELD - The Helias Lady Crusaders went 5-0-1 and captured the championship of the Glendale JV Tournament on Saturday.

The Lady Crusaders went 2-0-1 in pool play, beating Logan-Rogersville 25-15, 25-19; splitting with Glendale 22-25, 27-25; and beating Hillcrest 25-11, 25-17.

In the first round of tournament play, Helias beat the Glendale freshmen 25-7, 25-9. The Lady Crusaders then beat Joplin 25-15, 25-15 in the semifinals.

In the championship match, Helias took first by ripping Willard 25-11, 25-8.

For the tournament, Lexy Lamb had 46 service points and 43 assists; Abby Shepard had 37 service points, 37 assists and 22 digs; Hannah Borchelt had 21 kills and five blocks; and Regan Bruns also had 21 kills with four blocks.

Also for Helias, Maddie Neuner added 12 kills and six blocks; Bradi Berhorst contributed 36 digs; and Laura Vanderfeltz chipped in with 32 digs.

Helias, which is now 25-0-1 on the season, will play today at Battle.
