TORONTO (AP) - Portland captain Will Johnson broke his right fibula and tibia in the first minute of the Timbers' 3-2 loss to Toronto FC on Sunday.

The Canadian international was hurt when he went shin-on-shin in a 50-50 challenge with Toronto fullback Mark Bloom that saw both players slide to get at the ball.

Michael Bradley scored in the 89th minute to complete Toronto FC's three-goal, second-half comeback.

Fanendo Adi scored for Portland (9-9-12), and the Timbers got an own goal from Toronto's Steven Caldwell. Portland dropped a point behind Vancouver for the final Western Conference playoff spot.

Toronto improved to 11-11-7, surpassing the club mark for victories and points set in 2009.

WHITECAPS 2, REAL SALT LAKE 1

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) - Pedro Morales scored his second goal of the game in the 78th minute in Vancouver's victory over Real Salt Lake.

Morales scored off a deflection to spark a celebration as Vancouver (9-8-3) passed Portland for the final Western Conference playoff spot. Morales tied it at 1 in the 62nd minute on a penalty kick.

Nat Borchers scored for Real Salt Lake (13-7-10).

SOUNDERS 4, CHIVAS USA 2

SEATTLE (AP) - Obafemi Martins scored his 14th and 15th goals of the season to break the Seattle record in the Sounders' victory over Chivas USA.

Martins scored in the first half to tie it at 1 and gave Seattle a two-goal lead in the second. He broke the team mark of 14 set by Eddie Johnson in 2012. Martins also assisted on Clint Dempsey's goal that put Seattle up 3-2 during first-half stoppage time.

The Sounders (18-9-3) snapped a two-game losing streak. With 57 points, they regained sole possession of first place in the West and in the race for the Supporters Shield ahead of Los Angeles. The Galaxy have 54 points and host New York on Sunday night.

Lamar Neagle also scored for Seattle. Erick Torres scored for Chivas USA (6-18-6) and Seattle had an own goal.

CREW 2, IMPACT 0

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Ethan Finlay opened the scoring in the second minute and Federico Higuain added a second-half goal in Columbus's victory over Montreal.

From a narrow angle, Finlay blasted a rising shot into the top of the net past goalkeeper Evan Bush. Will Trapp set up Finlay's run up the right side with a pass that perfectly split a pair of defenders.

Higuain added his 11th goal of the season in the 58th minute, converting a penalty kick.

The Crew (11-9-10) moved into fourth place in the Eastern Conference. Montreal is 6-18-6.

UNITED 1, UNION 0

WASHINGTON (AP) - Luis Silva scored early in the first half and goalkeeper Bill Hamid made it stand up in D.C. United's victory over Philadelphia.

Hamid made four saves to tie for the MLS shutout lead with nine. United (16-9-6) snapped a three-game winless streak. Philadelphia (9-11-11) had a five-game undefeated streak snapped.

EARTHQUAKES 1, RAPIDS 1, TIE

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) - Atiba Harris scored in the 94th to give San Jose the tie with Colorado.

Matias Perez Garcia won control of a free kick from beyond midfield and laid it off to Atiba, who sent a laser into the left corner of the net to earn the point for San Jose (6-12-11).

Gabriel Torres opened the scoring for the Rapids (8-14-8) in the 84th minute with a chip off Chris Klute's cross from the right flank. Goalkeeper Jon Busch deflected the shot, but it curled just inside the post.
