The Jefferson City Jays were two stops away from coming out of Week 6 with their fourth straight victory.

But Logan Twehous and the Rock Bridge Bruins didn't allow that to happen.

Twehous connected with Karson Ringdahl for a 3-yard touchdown pass with 25 seconds left as Rock Bridge claimed a 36-31 win against Jefferson City on Friday at Adkins Stadium.

"I couldn't be more proud of the effort that was displayed out of any team that I've ever coached," Jefferson City head coach Ted LePage said. "They played a talented team toe-to-toe, nose-to-nose, fought until the last second, never gave up and I don't have any doubt that we're going to come out and be a better team because of this.

"I'm really proud of the guys and the way they fought."

Following a Darryl Williams interception, Rock Bridge (4-2) forced a three-and-out to take over at the Jays' 47 with 2:38 to play in the fourth quarter.

Tekoah Sage recorded a sack on first down and Jerimez Booker and Travis Burris followed with a sack to set up third-and-22 from Jefferson City's 35-yard line.

The Bruins answered in a big way.

Twehous completed a 23-yard pass to Alex Ofodile and the 10th-ranked Bruins were able to take it the rest of the way.

"Those two have been working together since they've been freshmen," LePage said. "It was just an opportunity that they seized. (Ofodile) is going to Oregon for a reason. He made the play when he had to make the play."

Rock Bridge had taken control earlier in the fourth quarter when Twehous found Ofodile for a 79-yard touchdown pass to give the Bruins a 28-23 lead with 4:40 to play.

But the Jays (4-2) didn't quit fighting.

Rashaun Woods took the ensuing kickoff 75 yards for a score and Denzel Wilson punched in the two-point conversion to give Jefferson City a 31-28 lead with 4:38 to play.

Williams intercepted Twehous on the Bruins' next drive, but the Jays couldn't take advantage.

"It stinks because I just felt like our kids played well enough," LePage said. "Any time, we've always said, they play well enough, when they play with everything they've got, we've got to accept it. We're going to have to accept it - but boy it doesn't feel good. But man, our kids played hard."

Elijah Pittman, who left in the second half with a concussion, scored on a 80-yard run to put the Jays up 10-0 with 4:32 left in the first quarter.

Austin Gerloff added a two-yard touchdown to give Jefferson City a 20-14 lead with 6:07 left in the third quarter, but Rock Bridge kept responding.

Gerloff finished with 106 yards rushing on 14 carries to lead the Jays, while senior quarterback Isaac Roling rushed for 50 yards on seven carries. Roling was also for 4-of-13 for 65 yards.

Denzel Wilson had 37 yards rushing on 10 carries and Jake Pridgin was held to three yards on seven carries.

J.T. Bohlken hit three field goals - including a 35-yarder to give Jefferson City a 23-21 lead in the fourth quarter.

Twehous was 25-of-39 for 296 yards and two touchdowns. The three-year starter also ran for 34 yards and a score.

Ofodile, who has verbally committed to Oregon, caught 14 passes for 186 yards and a score.

Rock Bridge running back Nick Collins had 71 yards rushing on 16 carries and scored a first-quarter touchdown to help pace the Bruins on offense.

Jefferson City returns to action at 7 p.m. Friday when the Jays host Confluence Preparatory Academy for Homecoming at Adkins Stadium.
