Blair Oaks tops Fatima in softball

WESTPHALIA, Mo. - The Blair Oaks Lady Falcons scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning Thursday to take a 7-6 decision from the Fatima Lady Comets.

It was the resumption of a game in Wardsville earlier this month that was halted with Blair Oaks holding a 3-1 lead in the fourth inning. The game was moved to Westphalia because of a previously scheduled JV doubleheader.

Fatima, still the road team on the scoreboard, rallied to take a 6-4 lead into the bottom of the seventh.

Lauren Viessman of Blair Oaks led off with a bunt single before Jolie Duffner doubled to put runners at second and third. Viessman then scored on a passed ball and Duffner then came home from second to tie it as the ball got away on the infield.

Two walks and a single then loaded the bases before the Lady Comets bobbled a throw home as the Lady Falcons scored the game-winner.

Duffner and Karlie Reinemeyer had two hits each for Blair Oaks.

Peyton Staggs was the winning pitcher, allowing seven hits and one walk while striking out 10.

Morgan Brandt had two hits for Fatima. Brandt, Kristin Boeckman and Kate Massman had RBI.

Blair Oaks (14-3) will open play against Parkway South at 4 p.m. today at the Hickman Tournament. Blair Oaks will play again at 7 p.m.

Fatima (9-6) will play Saturday in the South Callaway Tournament.

Blair Oaks swept the JV doubleheader Thursday from Fatima.

The Lady Falcons took the opener 1-0. Megan Mitchem got the win in the circle.

In the second game, Blair Oaks posted a 6-2 victory. Meredith Eisterhold was the winning pitcher. Lydia Pointer drove in two runs, while Macey Stockman had an RBI. Emily Jones had two hits for Blair Oaks (11-2).
