Local woman on probation for burglary

A Jefferson City man woman has been placed on five years supervised probation for pleading guilty to a burglary in February.

Tyra Sheldon, 39, of 625 Georgia St., was charged with one count of second-degree burglary.

She was found inside 417 E. Capitol Ave. by two other people checking on the property for owner Barbara Buescher.

Sounds of someone running were heard from the back of the residence, and witnesses said they saw Sheldon running out of the house.

She got into a vehicle, which witnesses described for police, who were then able to stop it in the 600 block of Ohio Street.

Officers brought witnesses over and they identified Sheldon as a person they'd seen running from the Capitol Avenue home.

Although she denied ever being inside the residence, a search of the vehicle turned up a crate of old memorabilia which Sheldon eventually admitted had been taken from the Capitol Avenue home.
