Russellville board touts MSIP scores

RUSSELLVILLE - The Russellville School District celebrated its recent MSIP 5 APR results, achieving a 99.6 percent and being ranked No. 4 among all K-12 schools in the state.

Superintendent Jerry Hobbs told the Russellville school board at its recent meeting that Russellville's scores have surpassed Fatima and Blair Oaks scores this year.

The school owes much to adding Professional Learning Communities in the district, he said. K-8 and high school teams have been invited to submit applications to deliver presentations at the next statewide conference.

In other business, the board:

• Approved reducing admission for one volleyball game for those who bring a donation to the Central Missouri Food Bank's Buddy Pack program in honor of "Rally for Riley."

• Changed the eligibility rule for the school carnival royalty, removing the requirement that a student has to have been enrolled in the district for at least one year before nomination.

• Learned the school spent $253,000 to operate its transportation system, but the state only reimbursed 30 percent of those costs. The state is supposed to fund the eligible transportation expenses at 75 percent.

• Voted to set the substitute bus driver pay at $65 per day.

• Approved early graduation requests from Audrey Garrison, Ashley Kirkweg and Rachel Call.
