Road work at Ashland to change interchange traffic pattern

State Transportation officials said Tuesday that work on the U.S. 63 interchange at Ashland, with Routes Y and M, will require changes in the area traffic patterns this week.

For the next few weeks, the contractor will be replacing the old pavement on Routes Y and M on either side of the new roundabouts at each end of the bridge over U.S. 63.

"These improvements will require the bridge to be one way, and will service westbound traffic only," assistant resident engineer Kirstin Munck said in a news release. "All northbound 63 traffic, and traffic needing to go east on Route Y, will be detoured to the new J-turn just south of Forsee Road and Peterson Lane."

She expects the bridge over U.S. 63 will be reopened to two-way traffic over the weekend.
