Davis touchdowns help Helias beat Battle

The Helias Crusaders defeated the Battle Spartans 29-14 behind three touchdown runs by Malik Davis.

Davis' first score, a 1-yarder, came on the Crusaders' first drive with 8:28 left the first quarter. T.J. Hagenhoff hit the extra point to put Helias up 7-0.

With 7:54 remaining in the second quarter, Alex Faddoul scored on a 5-yard run. The extra point was blocked.

Davis extended Helias' lead to 19-0 in the final minute of the first half with a 16-yard run. The extra point was no good.

The Spartans got on the board with 3:48 left in the third quarter on a 5-yard run by Nash Sutherlin. The extra point cut the lead to 19-7.

Helias struck again with 11:51 left in the fourth quarter on a 27-yard field goal from Hagenhoff.

Battle countered with a 57-yard pass from Brevinn Tyler to Sutherlin with 9:11 left in the game, making the score 22-14.

Helias put the finishing touches on the game with an 8-yard run by Davis with 6:22 left in the game.

The Crusaders finished with 388 total yards. Davis ran for 108 yards on 18 carries. Faddoul threw for up 254 yards on 18-for-28 passing. Battle (2-3) had 252 total yards on offense.

Helias (5-0, No. 2 in Class 4) plays Friday against St. James Academy at Bishop Miege High School in Roeland Park, Kan.
