Blair Oaks wins two in softball tourney

WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The Blair Oaks Lady Falcons trounced Nevada and Holden in their first two games of the University of Central Missouri Tournament.

Blair Oaks only needed three innings to top Nevada, 17-0. Payton Staggs was the winning pitcher, allowing one hit and one walk and striking out two.

The Lady Falcons tallied 17 hits. Macyn Williams had four RBI, including a three-run home run that ended the game. Lindsey Kolb and Carli Buschjost each went 3-for-3 with an RBI. Staggs and Jolie Duffner had two hits and an RBI. Taylor Markway had two hits.

The Lady Falcons took down Holden in five innings. Winning pitcher Megan Mitchem threw three innings, allowing one hit, one walk and striking out two. Taylor Gehlert pitched two innings, allowing two hits and striking out two.

Duffner went 4-for-4 with three RBI. Markway had two hits. Ashley Forck drove in two runners.

Blair Oaks advanced to the tournament's gold bracket. The Lady Falcons (10-2) play Warrensburg today at 10 a.m.
