Postal Service offering temporary jobs

The U.S. Postal Service said Tuesday it is taking applications for postal support employees, or PSEs, who are part of the agency's Supplemental Workforce.

PSEs are hired for temporary periods - not-to-exceed 360 days - but can be re-employed after a five-day break in service, if the need for that job still exists.

The positions have "limited benefits," including raises, paid vacation days and access to health insurance after the first 360-day term.

This position pays $15.26 per hour.

Applicants must pass a background check, drug screen and pre-employment medical assessment.

To qualify for the job, applicants must:

• Be at least 18 years of age, or high school graduate.

• Work flexible schedules, including weekends.

• Be a U.S. citizen, or have permanent resident alien status.

• Provide their Selective Service Registration number, for males born after Dec. 31, 1959.
