Potential threat prompted lockdown at LU campus

For about an hour-and-a-half Tuesday night, the Lincoln University campus was in a lockdown while authorities investigated a perceived threat.

According to Lincoln University Police Department reports, a student overheard a statement around 8:30 p.m. while at the student union. The student told police that the conversation sounded as if a shooting was being planned at one of the campus residence halls.

Campus police officials were called, and the lockdown was ordered around 10 p.m. as officers continued their investigation.

All exterior doors of campus buildings were locked, and students were sent text and Twitter messages notifying them they should stay inside.

Eventually it was determined there was no threat, and the lockdown was lifted around 11:30 p.m.
