Westminster football tops Crown

ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. - The Westminster Blue Jays got their first win of the season Saturday, carving out a 34-13 win against Crown College.

The Blue Jays got a pair of touchdown catches from Mike Washington (Jefferson City High School) in the victory, a 5-yard reception in the first quarter and a 14-yarder in the fourth.

Also getting a touchdown catch for Westminster was C.J. Vaughan (Jefferson City High School), his from 10 yards out in the second quarter.

Vaughan ended up with six catches for 92 yards, while Washington had six for 65. Austin Kempker (Blair Oaks High School) caught two passes for 11 yards.

Bret Robertson (California High School) had a game-high 12 tackles for Westminster, as he had five solos and seven assists. He also forced a fumble and had a fumble recovery.

The Blue Jays are now 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletics Association.
