Two charged with vandalizing cars

Two Jefferson City men have been charged in connection with multiple vehicle vandalisms.

Matthew Colbert, 17, and William Knox, 21, who both live in the 1800 block of Greenberry Drive, are each charged with one count of first-degree property damage.

Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statements show the two damaged 15 parked vehicles between Sept. 5 and 11, shooting their windows using Airsoft and BB weapons.

Most of the vehicles were on Winston Drive.

Outdoor video captured the two arriving and leaving from Walmart on West Stadium in Knox's vehicle after purchasing the guns and ammunition to commit these crimes.

A package of a CO2 cartridges was seized in a search of Knox's vehicle along with packaging to the two Airsoft guns that were used.

At Colbert's residence, officers seized three Airsoft/BB pistols, ammunition and spent cartridges.

Knox admitted that he and Colbert purchased the items and then shot numerous rounds from his moving vehicle, claiming they shot between eight to nine windows.

Colbert admitted to firing the weapons and said he knew they shot at least one window before going back home.
