Local man facing sodomy charges

A Jefferson City man is charged with first-degree statutory sodomy for an incident at Memorial Pool in August.

Edward Armstrong, 18, of 1405 West Main St., is also charged with one count of sexual misconduct involving a child by indecent exposure.

As of Wednesday, Armstrong was being held on $100,000 bond in the Cole County Jail.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement shows the victim, who is a female under the age of 14, identified Armstrong from a photo line up as her attacker.

The victim said Armstrong forced her to inappropriately touch him and then pulled her by her arm into a wooded area near the pool where he again made her inappropriately touch him and fondled her.

The victim said two juveniles approached them and Armstrong put back on his clothes and she was able to flee the area.

When interviewed, Armstrong admitted to making the victim touch him inappropriately and admitted taking the victim into the wooded area, but said he did not force her to go there.
