Helias JV wins tournament

QUINCY, Ill. - The Helias junior varsity volleyball team won the Quincy Junior Varsity Tournament last weekend.

The Lady Crusaders went 3-0 in pool play before knocking off Quincy 25-12, 25-12 to earn a first-place finish, while improving to 10-0 on the season.

In the championship game, Bradi Berhorst had nine digs and seven service points, while Abby Shepard finished with nine digs and six assists. Laura Vanderfeltz had nine digs, while Lexy Lamb contributed eight assists. Regan Bruns led the team with seven kills, while Madeline McDaniel tallied six and Maddie Neuner chipped in with five.

The Lady Crusaders opened pool play with a 25-14, 25-20 win against Belleville West.

Berhorst had 14 service points and nine digs, while Vanderfeltz tallied 10 service points and 10 digs. Lamb had eight assists, while Kelsey Schenewerk, Hannah Borchelt and Bruns each had five kills.

Helias then went on to claim a 25-10, 25-15 win against United Township.

Lamb had 10 service points and 10 assists, while Shepard chipped in with 12 assists. Berhorst had 12 digs, while Ella Ward led with seven kills. Schenewerk and Neuner had two kills apiece.

In the last match of pool play, the Lady Crusaders came away with a 25-15, 25-8 win against Quincy Notre Dame.

Lamb had eight digs and six assists, while Vanderfeltz had nine digs. Berhorst had 10 service points, while Ward and Bruns added four kills each.
