Cole County R-1 School District MSIP

RUSSELLVILLE, Mo. - The Cole County R-1 School District continues to improve, according to the state of Missouri's latest accountability measures for education.

The district score increased from 96.4 percent to 99.6 percent. The elementary building earned 70 of 70 points, and the middle school earned 70 of 70 points. The high school earned 138.5 of 140 points. The district earned 139.5 of 140 points.

"While test scores around the state declined for a number of schools, our scores increased in many areas and our MSIP 5 APR score increased as well," said Superintendent Jerry Hobbs.

This year, the district saw a 3 percent increase in academic achievement.

When students take the MAP exams, their performances are categorized in four ways: "Advanced," "Proficient," "Basic" and "Below Basic."

In English/language arts, 60 percent scored at proficient or advanced

In math, 69 percent were in the top two categories.

In science, 67 percent of students were proficient or advanced.

And in social studies, 58 percent were in the top categories.

"Our district has worked very hard to improve our academics over the past six years," Hobbs said. "Six years ago, our district was in the bottom third of the schools, academically, and now we are in the top 5 percent."
