EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - Marcus Mariota threw for 318 yards and three touchdowns and No. 3 Oregon's blur offense overwhelmed No. 7 Michigan State's stout defense in a 46-27 victory Saturday night.

Mariota's three touchdown passes - two to speedy redshirt freshman Devon Allen - gave him 69 for his career, an Oregon record.

After falling behind 27-18 early in the third quarter, Oregon (2-0) scored four straight touchdowns, two on runs by freshman Royce Freeman. He finished with 89 yards on 13 carries.

The loss snapped an 11-game winning streak for the defending Big Ten and Rose Bowl champion Spartans, who went 13-1 last season. Connor Cook threw for 343 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

The Spartans (1-1) had the second-ranked total defense in the nation last year, allowing opponents an average of just over 252 yards per game. But the high-flying Oregon offense - combined with temperatures approaching 100 degrees - appeared to wear on Michigan State as the game went on.

VIRGINIA TECH 35, NO. 8 OHIO STATE 21

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Michael Brewer threw for two touchdowns and Virginia Tech's defense stood tough at the end and the Hokies stunned Ohio State.

Keyshoen Jarrett had two interceptions and Donovan Riley returned another 63 yards for a touchdown in the final minute as a record crowd of 107,517 at enlarged Ohio Stadium watched.

Brewer led the Hokies (2-0) to a 21-7 lead at the half. After his fumble led to the Buckeyes (1-1) pulling even on Ezekiel Elliott's 15-yard run early in the fourth quarter, he led a 65-yard march capped by his 10-yard scoring pass to Bucky Hodges with 8:44 left.

The defense then stymied Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett, the freshman taking over for injured three-year starter Braxton Miller.

NO. 16 NOTRE DAME 31, MICHIGAN 0

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Everett Golson threw three touchdown passes and Notre Dame said so long to Michigan with Fighting Irish's most dominant performance in the historic rivalry that will take a hiatus.

Game No. 42 between in a rivalry that has been off-and-on for more than 100 years is the last scheduled. Notre Dame broke off the series a couple years ago to make room on its schedule to accommodate its new arrangement with the Atlantic Coast Conference. Michigan didn't take it well.

But with a chance to take a parting shot at the Irish, the Wolverines got hit with a haymaker and were handed their most lopsided loss in the series. And they were shut out for the first time since 1984, snapping an NCAA record streak of 376 games.

Golson was 23 for 34 for 226 yards.

NO. 14 SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA 13, NO. 13 STANFORD 10

STANFORD, Calif. (AP) - Andre Heidari kicked a career-long 53-yard field goal for Southern California with 2:30 left, and J.R. Tavai forced a fumble to end Stanford's comeback bid.

With Stanford threatening to tie or take the lead, Tavai came from Kevin Hogan's blindside to jar the ball loose. Scott Felix recovered at the 26 with 19 seconds to play, sealing new coach Steve Sarkisian's first major victory at USC (2-0, 1-0) and upending the two-time defending Pac-12 champions.

Javorius Allen ran for a career-high 154 yards, and Nelson Agholor had a career-high nine receptions for 91 yards to help the Trojans do just enough on offense to win at Stanford Stadium for the first time since 2008.

Heidari also made a 25-yard field goal in the third quarter.

The Trojans had gained 701 yards while running a conference-record 105 plays in a 52-13 win over Fresno State last week. But Stanford slowed down Cody Kessler and USC's up-tempo offense most of the afternoon.

Stanford outgained the Trojans 413 to 291 but had too many mistakes to overcome. The Cardinal committed two turnovers, eight penalties for 68 yards and missed two fields.

Stanford's 17-game home winning streak - which was the longest in the country - also ended.

NO. 19 NEBRASKA 31, MCNEESE ST. 24

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Ameer Abdullah's 58-yard touchdown dash on a pass from Tommy Armstrong Jr. broke a tie with 20 seconds left in Nebraska's victory over McNeese State.

McNeese State erased a 10-point deficit to tie it at 24 with 4:21 to play. The Huskers' winning possession started with 1:14 left, and they were facing third-and-6 when Abdullah made the play of his career.

After catching a pass short of the first-down marker, he first made McNeese State's Bo Brown miss, then rammed into a pack of three defenders, bounced off Aaron Sam and zoomed past Brent Spikes.

Nebraska (2-0) improved to 11-0 against FCS opponents.

Armstrong passed for 242 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 131 yards and a TD. Abdullah, who ran for a career-high 232 yards a week ago against Florida Atlantic, was held to 54 yards on the ground.

But the senior was at his best at the end after McNeese State freshman Alex Kjellsten's 24-yard field goal tied it at 24. Abdullah finished with three catches for 96 yards.

Sam had a 98-yard interception return for touchdown for the Cowboys (0-1).

NO. 1 FLORIDA STATE 37, CITADEL 12

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Jameis Winston threw for 256 yards and two touchdowns and Florida State set a school record with its 18th consecutive victory.

Aaron Miller was 3 of 11 for 46 yards and a touchdown and ran for 61 yards for the Bulldogs (0-2).

NO. 2 ALABAMA 41, FLORIDA ATLANTIC 0

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Blake Sims had 214 passing yards and Jake Coker threw for 202 to lead Alabama past Florida Atlantic in a game halted by lightning.

Both quarterbacks got a chance to stake a claim to the starting job for the Crimson Tide (2-0) in the one-sided game. Both schools agreed to end the game with 7:53 left.

Sims passed for two touchdowns and ran for a third in his second straight start and didn't play in the fourth quarter. He was 11-of-13 passing.

Coker went 15 of 24 with a touchdown in his first significant action, but the Florida State transfer missed some open receivers downfield.

NO. 10 BAYLOR 70, NORTHWESTERN STATE 6

WACO, Texas (AP) - Baylor backup Seth Russell threw for 438 yards and five touchdowns while playing only the first half, and freshman KD Cannon caught three of those scores.

Cannon went streaking past the secondary for TD catches of 50, 81 and 42 yards in the first quarter. He finished with six catches for 223 yards, the second-most in school history even without playing after halftime.

The Bears (2-0) came through just fine without senor quarterback Bryce Petty, the reigning Big 12 offensive player of the year, and several injured top receivers. They won their 12th straight home game, and have scored at least 69 points six times in that streak.

Petty cracked two small bones in his back after taking a hit on his first series in the home season opener. Coach Art Briles had said Petty wouldn't play unless he was 100 percent healthy.

Northwestern State (0-2) got only a pair of field goals by Chris Moore (25 and 28 yards) and lost its 17th game in a row against FBS teams since 2005.

The highly hyped freshman struck a Heisman Trophy-like pose after his 4-yard touchdown reception, drawing a stern lecture from coach Les Miles.

LSU freshman quarterback Brandon Harris ran for a 46-yard score and threw his first touchdown pass to fellow freshman Malachi Dupre.

Jared Johnson completed only 8 of 25 passes for 142 yards for Sam Houston (1-2).

The Lobos (0-2) pulled to 29-21 with 4:49 left in the second quarter, but Arizona State scored two touchdowns in the third quarter and New Mexico's only two points in the second half came on a blocked extra point that Brandon Branch returned 98 yards.

Wisconsin led 9-3 at the half.

The Gamecocks (1-1) trailed 13-7 early on with the Pirates (1-1) threatening to put another Aggies-style beating on them. But behind Davis' grinding runs and the defense's improving play, South Carolina found its footing in its first win of the season.

The victory was Steve Spurrier's 200th as a Southeastern Conference coach at Florida and South Carolina. Only Paul "Bear" Bryant with 292 and Vince Dooley with 201 have more.

NO. 21 NORTH CAROLINA 31, SAN DIEGO STATE 27

They trailed by 14 points with less than 5 minutes left in the third quarter before scoring on four straight possessions to take a four-point lead, then made a late defensive stand to earn their first 2-0 start under third-year coach Larry Fedora.

Quinn Kaehler threw for a career-high 341 yards with a touchdown, then led the Aztecs (1-1) to a first-and-goal from the North Carolina 3 in the final minute. He threw a quick pass in the end zone to Lloyd Mills, but Scott jumped in front of it for the sealing interception.

The 73 points were the most scored by the Tigers since an 82-24 win over Wake Forest in 1981 and it was their biggest margin since beating Presbyterian 67-0 in 1957. The Tigers are 29-0 against FCS teams.
