SPRINGFIELD - The Jefferson City Lady Jays won a pair of matches Friday to advance to the championship match of the Southwest Missouri Invitational.
In the first round, the top-seeded Lady Jays defeated West Plains 5-0.
Doubles winners for the Lady Jays were Paige Smith and Eden Hoogveld (8-1), Kelly Raithel and Kirsten Schmidt (8-0), and Athira Nambiar and Maddi Brown (8-0).
Singles winners for the Lady Jays were Eden Hoogveld (6-0, 6-0) and Athira Nambiar (6-0, 6-0). The dual match was clinched following the completion of the singles matches.
In the semifinals, the Lady Jays defeated Helias 5-1.
The Lady Jays swept the doubles matches, with Smith and Hoogveld posting an 8-4 win, Raithel and Schmidt winning 8-5, and Nambiar and Brown winning 8-1.
Singles winners for the Lady Jays were Hoogveld (6-0, 6-0) and Smith (6-1, 6-1).
The Lady Jays (10-1) will compete in the championship match at 8 a.m. today in Springfield.
