Calvary falls to Iberia in penalty kicks

IBERIA - The Iberia Rangers and Calvary Lutheran Lions played deep into the night Thursday before the Rangers were finally able to carve out a 5-4 win in penalty kicks.

Calvary never trailed in regulation, leading by as much as 3-1 before taking a 3-2 lead into halftime.

The Lions led 4-2 in the second half, but the Rangers were able to tie it at 4 at the end of regulation.

Neither team was able to score in two overtime periods. And after the first round of five penalty kicks, it was still tied.

It went to sudden-death penalty kicks and Iberia had a shot hit the cross bar that bounced down and was ruled a goal. Coupled with a miss by Calvary, it gave the win to Iberia.

Luke Allen scored a pair of goals for Calvary, while Daniel Bollinger and Alex Gentges had one apiece.

The Lions are now 0-2 on the season.
