Your Opinion: Cartoon illustrates opportunism

Dear Editor:

Your editorial cartoon of Oct. 29 implies that health care professionals returning from treating Ebola patients in stricken countries object to a 21-day "quarantine."

I suspect what these dedicated professionals object to is arbitrary and unnecessary political meddling with their freedom and judgment.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines clearly require only 21 days of monitoring, not quarantine, for health care workers who show no symptoms after treating Ebola patients.

Perhaps what we need is an indefinite moratorium on ignorant, opportunistic politicians and editorial cartoonists who "never let a good crisis go to waste."
