A vehicle travels along the newly-built section of road at the end of Creek Trail Drive Tuesday evening after a ribbon cutting ceremony was held to announce the official opening of the project.

The new Creek Trail Drive opened earlier this week.

The street goes under Missouri 179 and ties into Frog Hollow at Lecar Drive. Work started on the project in March and was completed earlier this month.

The street and sewer work combined put the total cost of the project at around $1.4 million.

The project eliminated a one-lane bridge and city officials believe that will provide a smoother flow of traffic through the area. It will also allow better access to Jefferson City Public Schools' property in that area and provide a future connection to the Mission Drive roundabout at the new St. Mary's Health Center.
