Man sentenced to 3 years for restaurant theft

A French Village, Mo., man was sentenced to three years in prison after being found guilty of taking nearly $5,000 while working as a co-manager at the Country Kitchen restaurant on Jefferson Street in Jefferson City.

Matthew Ball, 32, was charged with one count of felony stealing. A Cole County jury found him guilty after a trial in August.

A police department probable cause statement shows Ball was responsible for taking care of bank deposits. Between April 1 and 8, 2012, six deposits were filled out by Ball, but never arrived at the bank.

After the last missing deposit, Ball left on questionable medical leave and never returned to work.
