Missouri man gets life sentence for murder

ROLLA, Mo. (AP) - A 49-year-old Missouri man has been sentenced to life in prison for the stabbing death of a woman for whom he had done odd jobs.

The West Plains Daily Quill reports (http://bit.ly/1wA1Ln5) Dennis Woodward, of Bonne Terre, won't be eligible for parole under the sentence he received Monday in Phelps County Circuit Court.

Woodward's case was moved to Phelps County from Howell County, where 63-year-old Joy Dishneau was found dead in January 2012 in the Caulfield home from which she also ran a business called Naturally Enchanted.

Woodward was convicted in July of first-degree murder, robbery and other felonies. Testimony showed Dishneau had been stabbed with a homemade dagger and numerous items were stolen, including her Jeep Liberty.

Woodward's former girlfriend, 45-year-old Elisabeth Gunter, pleaded guilty earlier to second-degree murder in the case.
