Greyhounds strike early, defeat Lincoln

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indianapolis Greyhounds scored on seven of their first eight drives Saturday in a 52-14 victory against the Lincoln Blue Tigers in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.

Indianapolis held a 7-0 lead after one quarter before stretching that advantage to 31-7 at the half.

Lincoln got on the board late in the second quarter on a 27-yard pass from Bryson Winfrey to Vanzell Richardson. Andrew Fischel booted the extra point.

The Blue Tigers scored early in the fourth quarter on a 77-yard run by Morris Henderson. Fischel again added the PAT.

Henderson finished with 141 yards on 16 carries.

Jeremy Rives had 12 tackles to lead Lincoln, while Kareem Joyner had 11 stops.

Indianapolis finished with a 32-9 edge in first downs and a 517-228 advantage in total yards. The Greyhounds nearly doubled the Blue Tigers in total offensive plays - 84-43.

Lincoln (2-6 overall, 1-5 GLVC) is back in action against Central Washington in Ellensburg, Wash. Indianapolis improves to 7-1 and 5-0.
