Man charged with statutory sodomy, rape

HOLTS SUMMIT, Mo. - After a year-long Holts Summit Police Department investigation, Michael Wayne Rodgers, 34, turned himself in at the Callaway County Courthouse earlier this month after learning of a warrant out for his arrest.

Rodgers pleaded not guilty to the charges against him, which include:

• Two counts of statutory sodomy, second degree;

• Two counts of statutory rape, second degree;

• Possession of child pornography;

• Sexual misconduct or attempt involving a child under 15;

• Tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution.

Rodgers has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Dec. 5.

Holts Summit Police Chief Kyle McIntyre said the department's investigation began last fall after they received a report that Rodgers had received nude photos of a juvenile. Detective Mark Beardsley with Holts Summit Police Department, who worked on the investigation, could not discuss specific details of the case because Rodgers pleaded not guilty to the charges filed against him. Beardsley said Rodgers bonded out.
