Lady Crusaders win at Mexico Classic

MEXICO - The Helias Lady Crusaders took team honors Tuesday at the Mexico Autumn Cross Country Classic.

Helias finished with five runners in the top 10 and posted a team total of 22 points.

Kaitlyn Shea of the Lady Crusaders took first to pace the Lady Crusaders in 19:58.89. Kayla Yanskey was second in 20:15.64, while Kylie Frank finished fifth in 21:18.25. Molly Light was seventh (21:36.48), with Lanie Hentges taking 10th (21:47.87).

The Blair Oaks Lady Falcons totaled 73 points to finish third in the six-team event.

Kristi Wortmann led Blair Oaks, taking 11th in 21:49.60.

On the boys side, Blair Oaks finished second with 69 points.

Jason Otto topped the finishers for the Falcons, taking fourth in 17:24.86.

Helias finished third with 98 points. Elliot Knerschield was fifth in 17:43.49 to lead the Crusaders.

The Eldon Mustangs were fourth with 102 points. Chase Cook took seventh in 18:29.40 to pace the Mustangs.

In the junior varsity girls event, Helias posted a perfect score of 15 to top two other teams. Kylie Mulholland won the event for Helias in 22:24.29.

In the JV boys race, Blair Oaks was third among five teams with 76 points. Josh Berhorst was fourth in 20:24.61 to lead the Falcons.
