Illinois woman hurt in tri-level accident

An Illinois woman was treated at SSM Health-St. Mary's Health Care Tuesday afternoon after she was hurt in a two-car collision on the U.S. 50/54/63 tri-level interchange.

Jefferson City police said Rebecca Richardson, 56, Mahomet, Illinois, was eastbound on the middle level when her 2011 Toyota Camry was hit by a northbound 1999 Mercedes ML 430.

Police said Ruby Smith, 73, St. Louis, drove through the stop sign on the northbound ramp from U.S. 54 into the middle level, hitting the front passenger side of the Richardson car.

Richardson's Toyota then hit the concrete barrier.

All four people in the two vehicles - Richardson; Smith; her passenger, Ruth Arther, 70, Dacula, Georgia; and Richardson's passenger, Adam Richardson, 35, Mahomet, Illinois - were using seat belts.

Rebecca Richardson was the only person requiring medical attention.
