Jefferson City police probe heroin overdose

Jefferson City police are continuing to investigate an apparent heroin-related death in Jefferson City on Tuesday.

Just after 4 a.m., police responded to a residence in the 2800 block of Sue Drive for a possible overdose. When officers arrived on scene, they made contact with the reporting person who claimed she found her daughter unresponsive in the bathroom.

When officers located the victim, a 24-year-old Jefferson City resident, it appeared she had been deceased for several hours. Detectives were called to the scene and located various items associated with heroin use around the victim. No signs of foul play were observed.
