Wanting a win, Rams host Seahawks

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Robert Quinn still has zero sacks on the season.

And the St. Louis Rams have only one as a team.

This week, on short rest, they'll try to chase down Russell Wilson.

And it's not easy considering the Seattle Seahawks (3-2) have won 16 of the past 18 in the series.

The frustration is building. Especially for Quinn, who set a franchise record with 19 sacks and got a multi-year contract extension early this year.

"Once that first one gets out of the way, hopefully the ball starts rolling and I think people will forget about it," Quinn said. "So, no need to stress over it."

Coach Jeff Fisher said others on the defense can also help out Quinn.

"He's playing good run defense and his presence is known," Fisher said. "So typically speaking, someone else should benefit. We just have not been able to do that."

He's also pointed out the first two or three weeks, the Rams (1-4) were among those facing the fewest pass attempts because their run defense struggled.

According to STATS, one sack through five games is the fewest team total since 1964.

Here are some things to watch for in Seahawks-Rams:

• Austin Davis seemed to be progressing nicely as the Rams starting quarterback. He got the job after injuries to Sam Bradford and Shaun Hill and kept it after Hill returned. Davis is about to face another elite defense after struggling against the 49ers, who sacked him five times and intercepted him in the final minute.

"We got down and I probably forced a few things," Davis said. "You've got to understand that they're going to make some plays. You're not going to run up and down the field."

• Stephen Schilling will make his second straight start at center for Seattle with Max Unger still out due to a strained foot. Schilling played well in his first career start against Dallas, but there were communication issues that led to some of the penalty problems on the offensive line. The Seahawks had seven offensive line penalties two weeks ago against Washington and had three against Dallas. Middle linebacker Bobby Wagner (turf toe) is out at least a few weeks, but K.J. Wright could move to the middle and Super Bowl MVP Malcolm Smith is back in the lineup.

"K.J. is one of our favorite guys because of all his versatility," coach Carroll said.

• It's October, and the Rams are not far from wait-"till-next-year mode again. They're 0-3 at home, squandering leads against the 49ers and Cowboys and dropping the opener 34-6 to Minnesota.

The Rams won seven games in each of Fisher's first two seasons. They've been close in two losses, but that's not much consolation.

"It's very disappointing," middle linebacker James Laurinaitis said. "I wish we had victories for our fan base, for the fans that have stuck with us and gosh, been through a ton you know."

The Seahawks are coming off just their second loss in 19 regular-season home games and are anxious to rebound.
