BizBeat: Entrepreneurs test their ideas Saturday

The third annual Pitch It & Win It contest will be held Saturday morning. The event, hosted by StartUp JC and the Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce is designed to let entrepreneurs test their ideas for a new business venture to local business professionals.

"We're excited to have Rural Missouri Inc. as our sponsor," Chamber Business Manager Shaun Sappenfield said. RMI has donated $5,000 in prize money for the contest winners.

This year's event has 11 pitchers signed up, none of whom are repeats from previous years. Each participant will have five minutes to pitch their business idea for a chance to win a portion of the prize money. Five more minutes will be designated to answer questions from a panel of business professionals. Free business counseling has been available to interested pitchers prior to Saturday's event and a practice pitch event was held earlier in the year.

The event is free to participate and for those interested in watching.

It will be held Saturday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Capital Event Center, 623 Ohio St. For more information go to www.jcchamber.org.
