Cole County Grand Jury indicts 4 on separate charges

The Cole County Grand Jury recently indicted several individuals after finding there was enough evidence to send their cases on to the circuit courts for possible trial.

Among those were:

• A Jefferson City man charged with possession of child pornography for an incident in July.

Jeffery Millens, Jr., 19, was on probation for a charge of second-degree robbery.

Court documents show Jefferson City police were conducting a property damage investigation involving Millens, and in the process, officers saw sexually explicit pictures of a female under the age of 18.

The victim confirmed the pictures were of her, but said she sent them in confidence and did not want to share them.

Millens said he posted the photographs of the victim after she posted sexually explicit photos of him.

• A Jefferson City woman charged with forging nearly $51,000 in checks.

Hailey Hewitt, 27, of 206 Madelines Park Circle, is believed to have forged checks from July 1, 2013, through the beginning of August.

She is charged with one count of stealing and one count of forgery.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement shows that after being presented copies of the checks during an interview with authorities, Hewitt signed several that she had forged and written out to herself. The checks were cashed at Hawthorn Bank on Truman Boulevard.

• A Jefferson City man charged with raping a child under the age of 12.

Court documents show Javaughn Hodges, 31, has his home address listed as America's Best Value Inn on Jefferson Street.

The child said the rape occurred between August 2013 and May 2014 at a residence in Jefferson City.

The mother of the victim said the child had to be treated for a sexually transmitted disease.

• A Cole County man charged with hitting a boy under the age of 10 in the chest with a belt.

Jonathan Richardson, 25, is charged with one count of felony child abuse.

Court documents show the incident occurred in June.

The victim was found unsupervised and wandering a street late at night.

Authorities noticed the boy had a bloody bandage on his left shoulder and what appeared to be a long scrape approximately 10 inches long that ran across his chest.

The boy said Richardson hit him with a belt.

During an interview with authorities, Richardson said he struck the boy four to five times across his chest and back.
