St. Elizabeth softball wins district

CROCKER, Mo. - St. Elizabeth blew out Tuscumbia and Crocker, each in five innings, to take the Class 1 District 3 championship.

The Lady Hornets beat Tuscumbia 14-1 behind a two-hitter from Regan Wilde. Wilde struck out five.

Megan Kemna hit a triple and a single, scoring three runs. Taylor Helton had an RBI single and two doubles. Sarah Heckemeyer singled and had an RBI and a run, and Emma Kemna singled and scored a run. Shanley Kliethermes had an RBI and two runs, Sara Struemph had a single a run and an RBI, and Amber Struemph doubled, tripled, drove in two and scored twice.

St. Elizabeth blanked Crocker 12-0, and Wilde pitched as well. She had four strikeouts, no walks and only allowed three hits, all singles. Megan Kemna had a single, a home run and scored three times. Helton singled and scored three times. Heckemeyer singled, doubled, had two RBI and scored a run. Emma Kemna tripled, drove in a run and scored twice. Kliethermes tripled and had two RBI along with two runs scored, and Sara Struemph had two doubles, a single and three RBI.

The Lady Hornets (12-6) play Silex at 5 p.m. Saturday in sectionals.
