The Jefferson City Airport Open House and Fly-in is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Jefferson City Memorial Airport.

The free event is designed to show the public interesting and antique aircraft, and to teach them about the airport and aviation opportunities, according to information from the Experimental Aircraft Association's website, eaa429.org.

There will be a pancake breakfast, displays of experimental aircraft, an air show by the KC Flight Formation Team, radio-controlled aircraft and opportunities to fly in several planes. Pilots eat free. There will also be the World War II B-25 bomber called the "Show Me" on display.

The Show Me is an example of a bomber used by the Doolittle Raiders in 1942. The Doolittle Raiders were the first group of American aircraft to bomb the Japanese mainland from the deck of an aircraft carrier.

Also at the event will be the Grow Missouri Blimp.
