Thompson takes seventh, Helias fourth at state golf

Jefferson City's Brooke Thompson captured all-state honors at state golf Tuesday, while the Helias Lady Crusaders brought home a team trophy.

Thompson, competing in the Class 2 championships at Twin Hills Country Club in Joplin, carded an 82 to finish seventh. The event was shortened to one round after rain wiped out Monday's action. The top 15 individuals at the championships earn all-state honors.

In the Class 1 event at Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield, the Lady Crusaders earned a team trophy for a top-four finish by finishing fourth with a team score of 366-357-723. The California Lady Pintos finished eighth, posting a score of 417-404-821.

Leading the way for Helias was Jenna Kosmatka, who tied for 21st with a two-day total of 85-87-172. Also for the Lady Crusaders, Lauren Plunkett tied for 26th (92-84-176), Alex Nelson tied for 42nd (91-96-187), Ashten Lorts tied for 54th (105-90-195) and Luci Francka tied for 58th (98-101-199).

The top area finisher at the Class 1 meet were School of the Osage's Taylor Hayes (84-82-166) and Southern Boone's Hannah Muroski (79-87-166), who tied for 12th. Also earning all-state honors was Russellville's Mikala Jungmeyer (83-84-167), who tied for 15th.

Leading the way for California was Sophie Brant by tying for 56th (105-92-197). Renee Roberts was 61st (99-101-200), Haley Goans tied for 68th (109-97-206) and Rylee Glenn was 79th (104-114-218).

New Bloomfield's Brooke Kelley tied for 42nd (92-95-187), Southern Boone's Madison Ditter tied for 44th (97-92-189), New Bloomfield's Ashley Kelley was 52nd (93-100-193) and Russellville's Madison Oliver was 83rd (113-116-229).
