Your Opinion: Growth robs GOP of Obama-bashing material

Dear Editor:

In his weekly article, our vaulty 3rd District Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer asked the question "where's the jobs?" He should be the one to answer that because he is one of the Republicans in Congress that repeatedly voted 100 percent against every job's bill that was proposed by the president. The only jobs proposed by the Republicans were connected to a huge tax cut for the super rich which the Senate wouldn't take up.

In the edition of Time magazine dated July 28 in an article by Robert Altman "Seven Signs America has Turned the Corner" Goldman Sachs and many private-sector forecasters have stated that the first half of 2014 saw the best job creation rate in 15 years. This despite all the efforts of every Republican in this Congress of trying to make sure that Obama fails.

Total household net worth is now well above it's 2007 peak, driven by the recovery in stock prices and home values Stocks are sitting at an all-time high price, setting new highs almost every day. With an average of 248,000 new jobs having been added in each of the past five months (remember the U.S. was losing 700,000 jobs per month when Obama took over from Bush in 2009) the unemployment rate is on course to fall to 5 percent in 2016. Also the Case-Schiller home price index has risen more than 25 percent.

Private residential investment has jumped by more than 27 percent since 2012. Sarah Palin's favorite by-line was always "Drill Baby Drill." The idea that America' oil and energy production has been declining for the past 40 years and now the U.S. is on track to becoming the world's biggest producer by 2015 is hard for most Republicans to swallow. The U.S. energy administration expects total U.S. crude oil production to increase more than 25 percent to 9.3 million barrels per day by 2015.

America is now importing the lowest amount of foreign crude oil (less than 50 percent) than it has in the last 40 years.

Most Republicans have now quit bashing Obama about producing more energy because it is a losing cause. On top of that wind, solar and other forms of green energy is skyrocketing.

Republicans are running out of Obama bashing material. But leave it to them, they will dream up something else.
