SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Jefferson City Lady Jays tennis team advanced to its third straight Final Four with 5-0 wins Saturday against Kickapoo and Ozark.
Against Kickapoo, the doubles teams of Paige Smith and Eden Hoogveld (8-5), Kelly Raithel and Kirsten Schmidt (8-6) and Athira Nambiar and Erica Dunn (8-2) all had victories against the Lady Chiefs. In singles, Smith won 6-1, 6-0 and Raithel clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles.
In the state quarterfinals against Ozark, the doubles teams of Smith and Hoogveld (8-2), Raithel and Schmidt (8-3), and Nambiar and Dunn (8-1) were all victorious. In singles, Hoogveld (6-0, 6-0) and Erica Dunn (6-0,6-0) clinched the victory.
The Lady Jays (20-5) play St. Joseph's Academy in the Class 2 state semifinals Thursday in Springfield.
