Wine documentary comes to JC in Wine & Watch event

Capitol City Cinema in downtown Jefferson City is holding a Wine & Watch event to show the film "American Wine Story" from 3-6 p.m. Saturday.

The film, produced and directed by David Baker, is the story of an Oregon man's dream to own a winery/vineyard. He worked to accomplish this and then unexpectedly died. His sister steps in to try save his fledgling winery for his son. The film is also about winemakers and aficionados from across the country and what drives them, tracing American wine history.

This is the first showing of the documentary in a private theater. It has not been given general release and is still showing at film festivals in the West.

According to Jami Wade, president of the board of the cinema, Peter Hofherr, owner of St. James Winery, approached the cinema with the idea to show this film.

Tickets are $25 per person and include the film, wine from St. James Winery and desserts from Frosted Art Studio and are available at Cork and Carrie's Hallmark.

Proceeds benefit for the Capitol City Cinema, which is a non-profit organization.
