Your Opinion: Proposal ignores "real problem'

Dear Editor:

Join me in voting no on Amendment 3 relating to teacher tenure. As normal someone has to be the blame for a problem.

Now the problem is misfit kids who do not care and do not want to learn or be in school. They come to school with tattoos, ear rings and pierced nose rings plus undesirable clothing.

So instead of blaming the teachers, why not stop and look at the real problem. That is, the parents who do not care.

When the students have no guidance from home, how do we expect the teachers to perform miracles? The one fit for all does not work, as the lawmakers in the capital think it should.

As a child growing up in the '50s and '60s if you got in trouble at school during the day you were in worse trouble when you got home. Years ago, if you didn't want to learn or you caused problems the parents supported the school. It is sad that this has been reversed.

I have visited with school administrators and have been told that it is no problem to fire a tenured teacher. It is just a little more paper work.

Let's reward our teachers and give them the same benefits and the same respect as the administration.
