Softball: Lady Jays drop three

CARTHAGE, Mo. - The Jefferson City softball team beat Smithville but fell to Belton, Republic and Webb City in the Carthage Invitational this weekend.

On Friday, the Lady Jays dropped a 13-5 loss to Belton. Jefferson City was outhit 11-4. Brooke Rozier had two hits, and Katie Tambke and Darby Brundage each had one.

Alyssa Schulte and Krista Brickey pitched for the Lady Jays. Schulte allowed nine earned runs, three home runs, walked two and struck out three. Brickey allowed one hit and struck out two.

Later Friday, Brickey no-hit Smithville, and the Jays won 13-0 in three innings. Brickey struck out three and walked one.

Tambke, Emily Williams, Rozier, Alexis Gilliland and Schulte each had two hits. Williams, Rozier and Darby Brundage had three RBI. Tambke, Taylor Dey, Gilliland, and Schulte each scored two runs.

Saturday, the Lady Jays fell 4-2 to Republic. Jefferson City was outhit 12-3. Brickey pitched for the Lady Jays, allowing four runs - three earned - one walk and striking out two.

Rozier, Hannah Hirschvogel and Schulte each had a hit for the Lady Jays.

Later in the day, Jefferson City fell 8-7 to Webb City, despite outhitting the Lady Cardinals 13 to five.

Schulte and Brickey pitched for the Lady Jays. Schulte gave up six earned runs on three hits, four walks and two strikeouts. Brickey allowed two hits, each home runs.

The Lady Jays are now 14-7 on the season.
