The Lady Crusaders won the Helias Tournament with wins over St. Joseph, Father Tolton and Fatima.
On Friday, Helias defeated St. Joseph 5-3 behind six innings of one-run pitching from Lindsey Steinbeck. Steinbeck allowed six hits, one walk and struck out one. Jordyn Nappier had two hits, a run and an RBI. Riley Bond had two hits and scored two runs.
Later Friday, Helias blanked Father Tolton 10-0. Steinbeck pitched again, allowing six hits and three walks in five shutout innings. She struck out two.
Lauren Morrow had three hits, including a home run. She scored three runs and drove in two. Nappier had two hits and scored twice. Kayli LeCuru doubled twice and drove in three. Grace DIttmer had two hits, three runs and an RBI.
Saturday, Helias edged out Fatima 5-4 in the championship game. Steinbeck pitched seven innings, allowing three earned runs, 10 hits and three walks. She struck out one.
LeCuru hit a three-run home run in the sixth to put Helias ahead for good. Bond had a hit and two runs, and Lauren Morrow had an RBI double.
Helias plays Jefferson City on Monday in a makeup game at the Post 5 American Legion Sports Complex.
District play begins at 5 p.m. Wednesday against School of the Osage for the Lady Crusaders, the No. 4 seed in the district.
Fatima finish second in Helias Tournament
The Lady Comets were tge runners up in the Helias Tournament on Saturday.
In their first game, they defeated St. Joseph 12-1. Sammey Bunch and Kristen Boeckmann had two hits. Leah Kesel was the winning pitcher.
Next, Fatima defeated Father Tolton 15-5. Morgan Brandt had two hits, including a grand slam. Makala Buscher had two hits and two RBI, and Boeckmann had two hits and an RBI. Erica Fick also had two hits. Buscher was the winning pitcher.
In the championship game against Helias, the Lady Comets fell 5-4. Buscher had two hits and an RBI, and Christine Brunnert and Kesel had two hits apiece. Kesel was the losing pitcher.
Fatima (15-7) hosts South Callaway on Monday.
