Southeast Missouri beats Tennessee State 28-21

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) - Lennies McFerren ran for 115 yards and his fourth quarter touchdown helped Southeast Missouri hang on to beat Tennessee State 28-21 on Saturday.

McFerren scored from 7-yards out to give Southeast Missouri a 28-14 lead with 4:34 remaining. Tennessee State answered when Michael German threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Weldon Garlington to make it 28-21 with 2:11 to play. The Tigers then forced the Redhawks to punt on their next series. From their own 6, German drove the Tigers to the Redhawks' 27 before an Eriq Moore interception stopped the comeback bid with 46 second left.

Kyle Snyder threw for 134 yards and ran for 67 yards with a touchdown for Southeast Missouri (4-2, 2-0 Ohio Valley).

German finished 34 for 59 for 362 yards and two touchdown passes for Tennessee State (4-2, 1-1).
