Jefferson City police investigate shooting incident

On Tuesday at just after 9 p.m., the Jefferson City Police Department's 9-1-1 Center received multiple emergency calls for shots fired in the 1000 block of Elizabeth Street.

When officers arrived on the scene, they located a 24 year-old male who had been shot in the leg, along with a number of spent shell casings.

Officers began to interview a number of people on scene, and according to witness statements there was a disturbance in that area prior that evening around 7:45 p.m. that culminated in the shooting.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his wounds and was released a short time later. Some area apartments in the 1000 block of Elizabeth Street were found to have bullet holes, although no one was hurt inside those apartments.

One suspect in the earlier disturbance, Nathan Tilson, a 20 year old St. Louis male, was taken into custody for brandishing a firearm and investigators believe he may be connected to this shooting. He is in the Cole County Jail pending charges.
